Bushfire Season Procedures

St. Mary’s School is listed on the Bushfire Attack Register (BARR) and has an assigned Bushfire Attack Level (BAL). In accordance with Department of Education and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) requirements, the school must close on days declared as EXTREME or CATASTROPHIC Fire Danger Ratings for our Local Government Area.

The decision to close the St Mary’s school site is directed by MACS, in consultation with the Department of Education and relevant emergency and government authorities.

Once official notification to close is received, the school will communicate the closure as soon as possible via email and SMS to all families and staff.

During a directed closure, no students, staff, contractors, or visitors are permitted on site. These measures are mandated to ensure the safety of the school community.
